A blog can be a very personal site for writers looking to express their innermost personal thoughts or can be very general. Blog indexing means that blogs are listing on cross Internet searches and search engine sites. There are special sites that lists blogs that makes them easy to find for readers

When you first start writing a blog, it is usually because you have something you want to express. If you choose to share your blogging thoughts, you will want a steady stream of readers for your blog to be successful. More exposure to your web blog means more readers. Blog exposure is important and one way to get this type of exposure is through blog indexing.

Readers can find a blog about almost any topic in the world and in any language. A blog index helps readers find what kind of blog they are most interested in reading. Some blog indexing sites list several different topics to choose from and then list blogs that relate to a particular topic. For blog writers this can mean increased exposure to a blog site.

Blog indexing can also include indexing your blog pages within your site. When you add an entry to your blog, it will be included with a link on your site. Keeping these links can help readers go back and read your past entries. Many times, when you include certain keywords within your blog writing, a search engine can also pull up your past blog entries. This makes it easy for your readers to catch up with current entries as well.

Web searching through blog indexing is very beneficial. You can have the option whether or not to include searches to your site. When a blog is indexed, it helps readers easily locate your site. If you do not index your site, it still may be found using a search engine; however, the link will be blank if the entry is old or if you have removed it for whatever reason. Indexing your pages and including searches to your blog site means that a reader can enter your blog they are looking for and produce results.

When you get ready to index your blog pages and implement searches, there are few tips that can help readers easily locate your entries. One easy top is to keep your page noticeable. This means that you want to keep your search options easily accessible for your reader. Also, enter your blog on as many search engines sites that you’re possible can. Many search engines sites such as Google and Yahoo have steps you can use to enter your web site on their search engine. This process may take a couple of weeks, but it is well worth it if you are interested in more exposure through your blog.

Another way to increase the traffic on your blog with indexing and searching, make sure all of your links works. Check your links often and make sure that they are leading your readers to your site or to where you want them directed. Also, if you change your web blog location, you will need to update your search engines or include a link from your old site to your new site. If a reader clicks on your link to get to your blog and finds that it is no good, chances are that they will not attempt to find your location.

You can also increase traffic to your blog site by using a blog-hosting site that is easy to use and that offers features such as searches and indexing. There are many blog sites that are available to those that want to blog, but some may not offer the type of features you want to use. If you choose to keep your blog personal and private, then you will not need to worry about indexing or entering your blog on a search engine.

Blogging can be a great way to share your writing with others. In order to make sure that you have the maximum amount of exposure to your blog consider indexing and search engines. This can help readers easily locate your blog and will help them locate interesting entries in the future.

3 Reasons Why Blogging Will Boost Your Business!

Building your business can be a difficult task. You can put hundreds of hours of effort into the business, but if you still don’t have important components, you will not be successful. Today business owners are realizing that blogging boosts business. Blogs are typically only seen as personal places to express yourself and your views. The truth is however the blogs are also great places to reach people about your business or your products. There are several ways to do this type of blogging.

The best way a business can use blogging to boost their business is by taking part in the blogs of others. You can easily create quality posts with your business in mind without needing to set up a blog of your own. Try finding blogs that pertain to the area of business you are in. This will help you get started. With millions of blogs out there, you should be able to find some with no problem. Choose to post on all of them, or choose the few that get the most activity. Then begin posting. When you do, you will see positive results come in. If you are still curious about how this can boost your business, check out these three reasons blogging boosts business.

Quick Name Recognition

The fastest way to get your business’s name out in the public is to make it known to your targeted marketing group. If you want to get your company’s name out to men who like fishing, then you can find a blog that is about just that. When you find the blogs pertaining to this marketing group, post useful and intelligent information about topics that pertain to your company. You might not want to sound like an advertisement. Think about responding to another comment and simply tagging your signature with your company’s website. This is a subtle way to get their attention. The more you post on blogs, the more widely known your company’s name will become with the select marketing group. When they tell their friends and family about the site then your consumer group will have grown even more. This is a fast way to get started. You will have to invest some time however. At least an hour a day can be used for this type of task.

Consumer Testimonies

Your company might even think about hiring professionals to blog for your company. You can offer these employees products to try and give them the task of finding blogs where they can appropriately “praise” the product. By paying these people to do the task, you will be getting the work done that you need without having to devote much time. Consumer testimonials go a long way with other consumers. If these bloggers are productive enough, you will see an increase due to it.

Building Relationships

Smart business owners know that they can go further with the help of others. A great way to connect and build relationships with other businesses is via their blog. If you are a regular poster who values their business, they will be more likely to work with you. Working together with advertising is a great idea. You can swap ad space for no fee if you like. These are great things for business owners and are easy to get into when you blog regularly.

As you can see, blogging can be a great way to do business. It may seem like tricky advertising, and it is in some ways. However, it is free advertising that does the same thing as a commercial on television does. It reaches a targeted marketing group and lets them know your company’s name, products, and sometimes offers an endorsement. Overall, it is an effective way to get your business out there. When people have no idea who you are, they are not going to feel comfortable working with you. The better your reputation is, the more likely they will trust you. When you have no reputation at all, they will not trust you either. So, even if you just want to use blogging to build your company’s reputation, it will be worth your while. Give it a try and see what type of results you can get using these tips.

Writing For The Web: How Good Copy Becomes Bad Marketing

When it comes to writing websites, what is good for the search engines is often not good marketing.

Why? Because almost inevitably, when you write to please the search engines, you write about the features of your service. But you should be writing about the benefits for your customers.

This is a fundamental problem and one you have to take into account at every stage of creating the copy for your website. You have to achieve a balance between writing for people or writing for search engine robots. The balance will be subtly different for every business. You'll probably have to keep experimenting. It all depends really on how important search engine traffic will be to your organisation. First a quick recap on the basic issue of search engine copy.

Search engine optimisation (often called SEO) basically means making sure your website ranks highly with Google and other search engines. Google wants to give people the right, relevant information. It does this by reading the copy on your website.

If certain words are used frequently, Google will calculate that the site is relevant for that "keyword". When people search for that keyword, Google flags your site as one worthy of consideration.

So, when a copywriter creates his own website, he tries to use the word "copywriter" as frequently as possible.

It's no good just listing the word either. It needs to be in real sentences. What's more, it's much better to use the keyword at or near the start of a sentence. You also need the keyword in the main headline, in the first paragraph, and as often as possible thereafter.
So, you end up writing about you, the copywriter, and the copywriting that you can offer. Features of your service.

Where are your customers in all this? Any good copywriter, in fact even a complete beginner, knows that you need to turn the features of your service into benefits for the customer. It's just good marketing.

The copywriter should be explaining how he can increase sales, attract customers, save the client money, provide exceptional service and so on.

The same is likely to happen whatever business you're in. If you're a graphic designer, a client might come to you because they want you to create a professional image for their business.

But they don't search for "professional image", "design impact", or "creativity". They search for "graphic designer." So your copy has to keep mentioning "graphic designer" this, "graphic designer" that.

What's the solution? If you know an easy one, please share the secret. For most organisations and businesses, the answer is going to be a balance. You need to know how important Google searches are to you. If the answer is "not much" because visitors come from other sources – perhaps through a direct mail campaign, Internet advertising clicks, or because they are a regular customer and have you bookmarked – then your copy should weighted more towards good marketing, with less emphasis on search engine robots.

But if Google searches are everything to your organisation, then you'll have to play the game by their rules.

Carefully written copy can at least try to play both games. You can keep using keywords, but always bear in mind that you need to bring the focus back onto benefits for your customer.

It's not easy, and it can be a painstaking process. But that in essence, is what good web writing should be about: keeping one eye on the search engines and pleasing them when necessary, but always bringing it back to people, to customers, to benefits. Because that's good marketing.

4 Steps To Law Firm Website Search Engine Placement Improvement

Well, by now you most likely have heard that good design, proper key word density, intuitive navigation, correct Meta tags, quality incoming links and informative content are all important to achieving top search engine placement. This is especially true when it comes to law firm sites. Legal search engine standings are one of the top competitive classifications for search engine standing optimization efforts.

For this article, I’ll assume that your legal website already excels in the areas just mentioned and your site has decent standing for your desired legal keyword phrases. But, as you are keenly aware, the Internet can generate quality clients at a far more cost effective basis compared to any other medium. So, moving your legal website to the next level should be a very wise decision.

Below I have noted some highly effective ideas to improve your search engine standings:

1. Get another legal website!

Yes, for about $53 per month for the first year, and appx. $11 per month starting in the second year, you can have a second website. Your cost the first year would be approximately $500 for the legal website creation, $10 for a new domain name registration for one year and $10 per month for good quality website hosting. The cost drops in the second year because the site creation fee drops off.

This second site should not duplicate any of your existing site’s appearance or content. Failure to abide by this could cause your site to be dropped from major search engines. Your sites should be about your firm but each emphasizing a different practice area. Plus, both your sites should be hyperlinked together.

2. Select a URL

Your new website needs a web address. Select a URL for your new legal website that incorporates some of your keywords. Which site do you think would generate more search engine hits: www.sandiegolawyerforyou.com or www.smith-smithandklein.com?

Even if you have great name recognition in your local neighborhood, a potential client seeking a San Diego attorney will most definitely find the first site before the second. Result: Incorporating key words into your URL will increase your chances of being found in a key word search.

3. Purchase website creation software.

As web site owner, you or your assistant should know how to up-date your site by adding current content, or minor changes. Updating should be done often to keep your site relevant. With many free and low cost web site programs available, knowledge of HTML is not necessary. Personally, I would recommend Microsoft’s FrontPage as the best choice for website creation software.

4. Read a book on Search engine optimization.

Knowledge is power. Website designers are good at their website creation efforts, but usually lousy at any optimization efforts. In many cases, if they try optimization at all, they are using techniques that are way dated and in many cases could and have caused sites to actually rank well below their true potential or be desisted because of what is perceived as search engine mutilation.

Become the master of your domain not a slave to it! Read a Search engine optimization book today!

Search engine marketing simply means promoting a site online. In this internet age there are numerous online sites for various products and services. Simply having an online site will trim down your site just to me a mere presence in the World Wide Web. Websites must have appropriate publicity to make new sales and profit through these sales. There are a number of successful search engine marketing strategies that can help your business grow by leaps and bounds.

There are many advantages of using search engine marketing for your online site. Search engine marketing strategy is cheap compared to any other forms of marketing strategy. You have the option of spending less and earning more through this type of marketing. Another major benefit of this marketing strategy is that the advertisement for your site will be running for 24/7 throughout a week, month or year. Search engine marketing is very essential as search engines decide on the public pattern of online shopping.

Major search engines like Google give page ranks to sites to measure their importance for online users. Different elements of designing and other things are taken to consider in determining the relevancy of a website. These findings have made search engine marketing all the more important for a website.

Search engines make use of spider programs to search a website. Spider program is used to gather all sorts of information about a site. Some of the information gathered by the spider includes instances of the site being uploaded, presence of links and the type of links, age of the site and such other things. Google gives page ranks to sites on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest ranking for a site.

Pay per click is another tool used for search engine marketing. In pay per click, you can put up your site for advertising in a search engine or search engines can put up some ads in your site for generating traffic. This is a good way for making your site visible online and also earning revenue through pay per click. The content of your website is another factor which helps search engines in determining the relevance of your site in the internet. The content of your site must be updated regularly with all the relevant information. Remember there are different types of visitors to a website. The power of google sitemaps

Dear fellow entrepeneur

Let me tell you. When I started with Google Adsense in 2004, I had my doubts. But today, three years later, I am convinced about Google Adsense.

Maybe you won't believe me, but I'm making almost 30% of my monthly salary with Google Adsense.
You know, you get these so-called experts telling you how you can get rich in no time with Adsense. But let me tell you; it's all a hype (not that I'm saying that it is impossible to get rich with Google Adsense.). You see, it all comes down to very hard work and experimentation. And believe me, I made a lot of mistakes! But I've learned. And I've learned a lot!. You see, when I first started my first website, I did not have any intention of making money with Google Adsense. I started a website with the pure intent to help other people. I mean, the internet is a great place and the perfect opportunity where you can help others if you like.

So many people just join the internet community to make money. It does not matter to them if you loose money or valuable time, as long as they get what they want. Not that I say you are not allowed to make an income off the internet.

Ok, enough talking. Let's get to the real topic here. What is it about Google Sitemaps? Google Sitemaps tell the Google Bot / Spider about your wesite.
You know, the layout, where all the files are, which file is more important and which file is less important. The reason for this is that the search engine knows how to arrange your files in the search results.

A google sitemap is in xml format and there is alot of free tools available which will help you to create a sitemap for your website. Online as well as offline tools. Just type (free script google sitemap creator) in the search engine and you will see exactly what I mean.

I must admit, in my own experience that the google bot visits my site more regurlarly from when I started to make use of a sitemap. Everytime you create a sitemap, it tells the googlebot which files has been changed and what new files has been added or any other changes that you may have made to your site.

If your are a serious webmaster and did not create a sitemap yet, I suggest you do so. I do not understand xml markup language, but I can at least give you an example of how an xml sitemap looks like. With this example you will be able to create your own sitemap in no time (that is to say if you do not have too much pages), otherwise it will be better to make use of one of the free sitemap creators available.

Well, here is the example:

\n");

http://www.example.com\n");
2007-08-27
weekly
0.8

http://www.example.com/directory/file.htm\n");
2007-08-27
weekly
0.5

Well I think you got the basic idea now to enable you to create your own sitemap, get more visitors, and make more money with Google Adsense.

One more thing. You are free to use this article on your website provided that it stays unaltered and the links in the resourcebox is live, search-engine friendly links.

DO NOT STEAL. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

Linking To The Top in Google

A while back and without much experience, and too much time to kill, after a little work I achieved top ranking for six of my websites for their main keyword phrases. And you know what? Back then it was easy, the main things were your meta tags and getting some links, it really was that simple. Mostly reciprocal links and all I had to do to get in the top three of my category was put my main keyword phrase in the link text. That's all it took, it was so easy!

It had to happen eventually, the seceret got out and everyone else knew to put their best keywords in their links, and bam, page one SERP's. The reciprocal link exchange boom was on. Link exchange services and software poped up like mushrooms after the rain.

I needed another edge so I started buying links, mostly run of site links. I'd have my best keyword in the ancor text on every page of a large site. I'd do this wit a couple of websites, and bam, right back on top. This was fantastic! Think about it, $100 every 30 days to get thousands of visitors every single day. Things were going great, I had tons of traffic and most of my competitors spending a fortune with Adwords for a small percentage of the traffic I was bringing in.

Once again everyone eventually discovered the power of buying text links, the race was on once again. It doesn't take long to get the attention of the SE's when everyone is abusing something that powerful, and once the SE's put their sites on it. it's over. So I looked at top ranking site's for terms like shoes, clothes, gifts etc. Link exchange services and software poped up like mushrooms after the rain. O.K. now I'm pumped, I've just got to get one way links from relevant content pages and I'm back in the saddle again. But how am I going to get lots of people to give me a one-way link from a relevant content page?

Then it hit me, create a triangle of sites linking to each other, A would link to B, B would link to C and C would link to A, of course this will solve all my problems. How hard could it be?

I had no idea what I was getting into!

Talk about a nightmare!

After sending out hundreds of request and eventually getting two webmasters to agree the first issue I encountered was that they insisted on putting the links on spammy links pages that were almost impossible for a SE spider to find. Next big issue was webmasters that wanted two of their websites in the triangle, both of which had the same IP#, this was like putting putting up a flashing neon sign that read "Link Scheme". Then there was quite a few shady operators who were actively seeking triangle links who wanted a good link from you, but wanted to link back from a link farm. What a nightmare this was turning into, almost a month and not one decent link. Where did I go wrong? And how the heck did I end up on this path to nowhere?

Now besides the headaches involved in trying to trick the search engines with schemes and black hat seo, there is a very real risk of having your site banned. It took me several years to figure out, but sometimes its easier to go with the flow and give the search engines what they want, like real and valuable content. It may seem like the slow hard way, but in the end you’ll see it’s the only way to succeed long term.

Next week we’ll exam ways to get quality one way links to your site.

Keywords & Search Engine Optimization

Internet users know that the online world is growing and expanding on a daily basis. Many entrepreneurs are using their web sites to make money. Online business is thriving, Internet buying and selling is more popular than ever, and everyone is cashing in. But to make money from your web site, and make your Internet dreams a success, you must have customers.

Sounds simple enough, right? As easy as it sounds, there’s more to it than that. The Internet is a thriving, fast-paced, high-tech world where everything has to be bigger and better than what came before. Thousands upon thousands of web sites are out there, many of them probably very much like yours. How do you make your web site stand out above the competition? How do you make sure that customers come to your site first, buy from you?

Search engines. Everyone who has used the Internet has used a search engine at one time or another. The process is quite simple and usually quick. You know you’re looking for heated socks. So, you go to the search engine of your choice and type in “heated socks.” Voila! Web sites that sell heated socks.

So, what do you do? You click on the very first web site that’s on the list that the search engine returns. That’s what everyone does! The web sites that appear on page thirteen of the listing aren’t going to get any visitors. Obviously, you want your site to appear right up there near the top of the list.

And that’s where search engine optimization comes in. Search engines look, primarily at one thing: keywords. Choosing good keywords for your site is incredibly important, because keywords are what your potential visitors are going to use to find you. First, you have to decide what keywords you’re going to display on your site, what keywords you think visitors will use to find your site.

What sort of site is it? Are you running funny a site with lots of political jokes? You’ll want keywords like “politics” “Washington, D.C.” “Funny” “humor,” etc. Choosing good keywords is very important. You want simple, straightforward keywords. Some words are very commonly misspelled – include the common misspellings if your keywords are easy to misspell. Simplify your keywords as much as possible, include as many as you can, and you’ve taken your first steps to search engine optimization.

But, even that isn’t enough. Knowing that your keywords are “computers, Internet, and mouse pads” is great, but you still need to do more. Those keywords, all the keywords that you want connected to your site, have to appear on the site. Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? Well, it is pretty simple, but you have to know what search engines are looking for. Search engines are very, very smart, and look for very specific things.

Your keywords must appear within content on the site. You can’t just repeat the same keywords over and over “computers, Internet, mouse pads. Computers, the Internet, mousepads.” Search engines will discount your site, because they’ll know what you’re trying to do, and you won’t get a high listing. To get a high listing, you have to have lots of content. Here’s the secret: it doesn’t have to be great content. As a matter of fact, most Internet users don’t read the text of web site that carefully in the first place. Just have lots of contents on the site, with your specific keywords repeated 4-6 times on the page, and you’ll have optimized your keywords.

Search engine optimization isn’t hard, as long as you know how search engines work. By using good keywords, you can get the most out of your site and out of search engines.

How to Rank Better In Search Engines..

[1]. Your Web pages with content should be interested in reading.

As content is king for search engines content in your site should be both unique and interesting. This can improve your impression.

[2]. Content should be highly focused with keyword phrases.

Rather than phrases that are too general and competitive
specially when there is more competition.

[3]. Optimize your Web pages for at least three to five keywords at a time.

You should optimize your page for minimum three keywords-for three keywords your page should be highly relevant. for that you need to choose better keywords, choosing keywords is not a game of guessing. it is one science. Write your site's content using the keywords for which users search and you'll literally be speaking the same language as your visitors.

Useful sites:-Nichebot.com and Wordtracker.com

[4]. Use regionally specific keywords, when applicable.

If your target is regional than try to choose keywords that are regional.
Example:-you can choose 'loans in new York' rather than just 'loan in USA' that's why you will get highly targeted visitors and improve your visitor to sales ratio

[5]. Use the most commonly used variations of your keywords, with keyword research

Don't choose keywords that are highly competitive (specially when your page rank is low.) You can choose their synonyms etc.as per I said you need to do some research work for that. also consider some variation that can occur due to typing mistake etc..

[6]. each optimized page should contain a unique title.

It will some time meaningless if you will choose same title pages more than one. title tags are very important and perhaps you know that search engine give lots of weight to title if title of your page will different. Than you can get more traffic for more keywords. this is important.

[7].Use multiple keywords in your title tags when appropriate.

Choose better title for every page using synonyms etc..That you will probably also get traffic for that keywords too. but don't go overboard.

[8].Most important keywords appearing above the fold and throughout each optimized page.

First few lines are very important for search engine page relevancy. so write that with special care and using your all main keywords. also include your keywords in other part of page too.

[9]. Using keywords in hypertext links, whenever possible.

If you will use keywords in hypertext links than your page which you link will improve its page relevancy automatically

[10]. Each optimized page contains a unique meta-tag description.

Some search engines still give more weight to Meta tags so like title Meta tag should be different for each page if possible.

[11]. each optimized page contains a unique meta-tag keyword list.

Like Meta tags you should also change Meta tags wherever possible. and that keywords should also include in page body.

[12]. Place common misspellings of your keywords within your meta-tag keywords.

Many people using this system to get traffic you can use misspellings in your meta details and can drive traffic. due to typing mistakes of searchers

[13].your graphic images should contain descriptive keywords within the alternative text attribute, when appropriate.

Google also decide relevancy through name of icons, images etc..so try to include your keywords in it.

[14]. If you are submitting pages to non-U.S. search engines. write your pages in the appropriate language

if you will not do it. it may possible that in international search engines your rank will down.

Link "Quality" for Link Building Explained

This article will explain the importance of link quality, and its application to link building. Everyone may have a different understanding of what “quality” is on terms of links, but essentially that is your decision entirely. If you have an existing site, that you need to build links for, use this as a reference check list to ensure that you are link building properly. I am going to review the key 6 areas.

Is the page linking to you indexed in Google and is the cache version fresh?
Why is this essential? Google has a cached page of any indexed page on their index. So basically, this should be your starting point for any link partnership decision. You need to verify that the page the link partner is proposing for exchange, is actually indexed and that the cached version is of the page is fresh in their records, within 20 days old as a benchmark. This will show that the page in question gets crawled often. PageRank of the page is secondary, and comes normally afterwards in comparison to this primary check.

Is the page linking to you on topic? Is this a themed link?
There is a big difference between the types of links you can get. These type of link are very targeted and carry a lot more weight over generic or unrelated links. This is part of what explains why some sites with much less links that their direct competitors are able to outrank them for particular terms. Quality links from themed sources is the short answer. Focusing on just "popularity" and inadvertently ignoring "reputation" is a mistake a lot of online marketers make. Keep this in mind.

Is the Title tag of the page linking to you on-topic? What about the text?
The title tag of the page linking to you is of great importance. When that is combined with text that is on topic with the page which is being link from, and other factors, the link value is increased greatly for the link. So as you can understand from this, is all about the co-relation of these factors that makes one link better than another.

Where is your link on the page located? Navigation, gutter, footer, body?
Location of your link is another strong factor to consider. The most beneficial location is considered to be within the body area of content. Any repetitive areas like navigation, gutter, footer, etc would normally not carry as much weight as the main body area. “Run-of-site” links fall into this group. There is a preference for the first paragraph, but the middle or bottom within the body content are good areas as well.

How many other links are on the page? Home Page vs. Link Page PR gap?
PageRank gets automatically diluted in relation to the amount of links on the page.
Google guidelines currently suggest a maximum of 100 links per page. So here you
want to make sure the number is as small as possible. I recommend targeting 20 links per page maximum on average to have room to allow those pages link growth. Also, what is the difference between the main page PR and the subpage were you are getting the link from? In the best cases, your link will be one point under the home page value. If it isn’t, you can consider other options with your link partner.

Search Engine Optimization (Seo)

Search Engine Optimimization (Seo)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO), considered by many to be a subset of Search Engine marketing, is a term used to describe a process of improving the volume of traffic to a web site from Search Engines, usually in "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Those efforts may also be seen in more narrow vertical Search Engines involving areas such as local search. Many site owners and consultants engaging in SEO attempt to pursue qualified visitors to a site, and the quality of visitor traffic can be measured by how often a visitor using a specific keyword phrase leads to a desired conversion action, such as making a purchase, viewing or downloading a certain page, requesting further information, signing up for a newsletter, or taking some other specific action.

In a broad sense, SEO is marketing by understanding how search algorithms work and what human visitors might search for, to help match those visitors with sites offering what they are interested in finding. Creating web pages with SEO in mind does not necessarily mean creating content more favorable to to algorithms than human visitors. Some SEO efforts may involve optimizing a site's coding, presentation, and structure, without making very noticeable changes to human visitors, such as incorporating a clear hierarchical structure to a site, and avoiding or fixing problems that might keep search Engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Other, more noticeable efforts, involve including unique content on pages that can be easily indexed and extracted from those pages by Search Engines while also appealing to human visitors.

The term SEO can also refer to "Search Engine Optimization", a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out Optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees of site owners who may perform SEO services in-house.

Search Engine Optimization often offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a larger marketing campaign. Because effective SEO can require making changes to the source code of a site, it is often very helpful when incorporated into the initial development and design of a site, leading to the use of the term "Search Engine" Friendly" to describe designs, menus, content management systems and shopping carts that can be optimized easily and effectively.
Imagine an orchestra at a concert with the guitarist strumming a guitar with broken strings and the drummer drumming with broken drumsticks. Imagine the face of the conductor with a broken baton and all the worst fears and dreams in world coming true accompanied with a cacophony in the name of symphony. Music? Precisely the reason why your website on the Internet should be optimized.
Aditya infotech believes the term Search Engine Optimization means a continuous and ongoing process where the architecture of the website and the website itself remains updated with the objective to return a particular search term on a particular search engine with the correct search result. Here the content and structure of the website's copy and page layout, the meta-tags, and the submission process make sure the required takes place. No horror stories of searching a mole and finding a mouse.

10 Tips To Increase Your Search Engine Rankings

The Basics of Optimization

Many online sellers get frustrated with search engines regularly changing algorithms. But there are basic principles that haven’t changed through the years. Apply these tips to increase your rankings:

Tip 1—Don’t be too quick to change domain names. Google has an aging delay for any new domain—it can take up to a year for your keywords to start showing in the searches.

Tip 2—Optimize your site for your target audience, not the search engines. Always think about what impression your site gives your users—you’ll create a better site the engines will like.

Tip 3—Do KEYWORD RESEARCH extensively. Everything else revolves around the keyword phrases you choose, so it’s critical you choose the best ones. http://WordTracker.com and http://KeywordDiscovery.com are two information databases that show you what words people are searching for and suggest words you can use.

Tip 4—Design and categorize your site architecture and navigation based on your keyword research. Jill Whalen, founder of http://www.highrankings.com, says, “Your homepage should be optimized for the more general phrases…Your inner pages should be optimized for the more specific [ones].” If possible, use keyword phrases as your navigation words.

Tip 5—Program your site to be “crawler” friendly. Search engines send out “crawlers” to gather information from your site so they understand how to rank it.

• Create your links using HTML, not javascript. Crawlers can’t follow javascript and won’t be able to read your information.

• Don’t design your site in Flash—there’s nothing for the crawlers to read. If they can’t interpret the information, they can’t classify your site.

• Make sure your copy is HTML, not a graphic of a text. It may look like copy. But if you have a text graphic, all the crawlers will see is a blank page.

Tip 6—Label your internal text links and clickable image ALT attributes as descriptively as possible. Within the text links in your site, use the phrase that describes the page you’re clicking to. For image links, make sure those phrases are contained in the image’s code.

Tip 7—Write compelling copy for key pages of your site based on your chosen keyword phrases. Choose a few keyword phrases that apply to the particular page you’re writing and work those phrases into the copy.

Tip 8—Incorporate your keyword phrases into each page’s unique title tag. Title tags are given significant weight with search engines. The title tag is the information that shows up in the search engine results so it’s crucial that it be enticing, not just crammed with keywords.

Tip 9—Make sure your site is link-worthy. Search engines judge a site’s popularity by the number of links pointing to it. To make sure people will want to link to your site, you have to offer something worth linking to. Beyond your product or service, you need something that puts you over the top: an information service, a superior presentation, or great variety.

Tip 10—Don’t be married to any one keyword or phrase. Optimize for all the relevant phrases. Says Whalen, “If you can rank highly for a good portion of them, they’re going to add up to a lot more than just that one keyword phrase that you think is the good big money one.”

Search Engine Optimisation: One Link is Better than Ten

That can’t be right! Shouldn’t ten links be better than one? It is usually the case where more is better. However, when it comes to gaining links, having more links isn’t necessarily better than having a few good links. In fact, having too many irrelevant links could possibly harm your website’s visibility within the search engines.

These days, search engines are placing more emphasis on incoming links to a website when evaluating rank. The reason being is because they are difficult to obtain from trusted sources (a "by the book" website such as the Dmoz directory) and it is a good way to partially eliminate the group of people who abuse the "on the page" factors of optimisation (page spamming). How is this so? Well, if you have someone who is abusing the "on the page" factors and they have no trusted links to their page (they will most likely not get any at all due to spam) then there is no chance of them getting a good listing. However, people have worked out ways in getting a large number of links, through link farms and other tactics, regardless of the quality of their website. As the search engines are aware of this, it brings us to the topic of how one link can be better than ten.

Obtaining one link from a trusted source can be very difficult in the sense that they do not issue links to just about anyone. If you have a good website with relevant information, then you will get them. It is for this reason one link from a trusted source can better a multiple of links from other websites. As a trusted source website is "trusted" by search engines, it will also trust the websites it links to. If you have ten links from your best friends, it will help you in some sense, but no where near as much as the one link from a source like Dmoz, unless one of your friends has a very reputable website amongst the search engines.

Having too many irrelevant links could harm your website’s visibility in the search engines. What is meant by this is having links from websites that have no relation to yours. An example of this would be a site about cars linking to another site about medicine (unless the sites are reputable and have a good reason for the link i.e. there is a relationship made between cars and medicine). Search engines will pick up on this sort of link and will give it no weight in boosting your visibility. Obtain many of these irrelevant links, then it could be seen as spam (like a link farm tactic) and that will lower the popularity of your website within search engines.

The key here is to focus on quality and not quantity. Gaining a few good / relevant links will take you much further than a lot of irrelevant links. To get these quality links, start off by placing your website in directories, but be sure to avoid any "on the page" spamming as this will not get you accepted. Once search engines have acknowledged a presence of relevant links, follow up on it and research some ways to obtain more. As time passes, you will notice that your website’s performance will increase, as the links age, provided you have carried out search engine optimisation. Avoid obtaining the irrelevant links even though it may be tempting to see fast results. It will only be a matter of time before a search engine realises the spam tactic, and as the saying goes "fast rise, fast fall".

Maintaining Ethical Standards In SEO

In all kinds of businesses, credibility is important. This is one of the primary principles that are being established by the companies. It must be prioritized above all other things because if not, they will surely loose their customers. In every country, there is always a provision that sets ethical standards when it deals about business.

Even on the SEO or the search engine optimization companies, they are also very concerned with the maintenance of their integrity. It is easier to attract customers if the company is able to sustain a good name. It will also ensure a good profit, because the more subscribers who will patronize the business the greater the gain that they will have.

The kind of employees that you have will reflect the totality of the company’s management. This will reveal the manner on how you discipline your staff. It will also transpire to the people that will make them decide whether they will go for subscription in your company or not.

In SEO, there are various ways to maintain its credibility.

• Choose a trustworthy staff. Usually, chaos and controversies within the company starts when misunderstanding exists. Make sure that when you accept applicants as your future employees you are guaranteed that they have a good morale. Even though the task of the employees in SEO will be merely focusing on computer works but still it is very important since you will be making transactions within and outside your offices.

• Small things should not be made complicated. If there are little problems that arise in running the business, better discuss it immediately before it grows into a bigger problem.

• Problems arising in the company must be tackled within the office only. Avoid things that will likely worsen the situation, commonly this is the problem of the companies. Matters that deal on internal concerns must not reach the other offices. There are times that your opponent company may use the controversy against you that will lead to the obliteration of your name.

• Always appear cheerful towards your customers. In spite of the internal problems that you are probably encountering do not take it as burden up to the point that you will disregard the welfare of your subscribers already. You will lose a lot of them if you continue doing this, so always remain positive to them at all times.

Some of the noted unethical practices that are very known to search engine optimization are cloaking and issue, doorway pages or hidden links and sometimes hidden texts.

These malpractices are treated to be forbidden by various search engines. Beware about this because once they discover these strategies used in your website, you will surely be banned.

Sadly, once your site is ban you will not only loose your ranking but as well as the money that you have invested on it. Everything will turn into nothing so it is better to be honest at all times. Do not grab for profit in an immoral way because you will just suffer the consequence in the end.

So, ethical standards will be comprised of all the factors surrounding the entire management of the company. It is not a matter of questioning your manager’s individual personality or even the staff but on their morale inside their work.

Affordable SEO Rankings

Title:
Affordable SEO Rankings

Word Count:
619

Summary:
What route to take when deciding on an SEO campaign and higher rankings? Outsource to an SEO company or go DIY which can, in some cases be much more affordable and profitable long term.

Keywords:
seo SEO cources affordable rankings search engine optimization ranking marketing

Article Body:
Traffic is a must if any online business is to succeed. Your business can either pay for that traffic through advertising, ezines and other means... Or you can decide to go the SEO route and get all your traffic for free.

However in doing so there is first an outlay in costs to get your website highly ranked on all the major search engines. The more ranking you would like to obtain, on multiple pages, using multiple keywords/phrases, the more costly it will be to your business.

But the real question, is just how costly?.... And, if you go the D.I.Y SEO route, just how effective will it be and how much money will you save?

What is a reasonable cost or the average cost for employing an SEO company?

The problem with most SEO companies is the fact that they are literally charging a small fortune for a basic SEO campaigns which may include optimization of only a few web pages and ranking of just two to three keywords or phrases. How much for such a package.... anywhere from 2 to $4,000.

The current going rate for in house (internal) SEO work is anywhere between 40 to $60 per hour, with external rate, business to business sitting at roughly $100 per hour.

If you are a large company, these rates may be affordable but for most small businesses and solopreneurs, they are simply out of the question.

Even a large company may be better off handing their SEO tasks over to a capable employee who can learn the required skills and techniques and apply these when required. One or two people with such capabilities would not only save the company profits but would allow their business to adapt to new SEO products a lot faster than having to outsource.

What you are not being told be the SEO companies is that search engine ranking is really not that difficult to master... And the second point that maybe matters the most is that once you have high ranking for many selected keywords, just a little maintenance and tweaking can keep you there for a very long time. Even to the point that much SEO work can be outsourced at very low rates to experts in other countries which makes it even more affordable.

Without doubt, obtaining high rankings by doing it your self or handing it over to a major SEO is quite doable. With so many affordable SEO guides, memberships and software packages online today, it is really a wonder as to why many companies are yet to implement their own in-house SEO specialists using their current staff.

So, is this to say that learning all SEO techniques is simply a walk in the park, of course not. But any person with a reasonable ability in technical matters could have a large website on it's way to excellent ranking positions within as little as two weeks.

Unfortunately what most lack in SEO, is a clear and concise plan of action. Yes, many will learn the techniques and methods required but then fail to act or fail to implement the complete plan thus resulting in minimal outcomes. As with any marketing campaign, it must be implemented right through to the very last step, SEO is not different.

With the continuing improvement of search engines to supply more accurate results, search engine marketing will continue to grow and be in high demand.

The decision you have to make for your own business is....

Exactly how much income do you wish to take out of your own business pocket in using such services, or is there a better alternative by taking your SEO in house and increasing business profits continually, year after year?

Google And Your Domain Name

Google, being the largest and most used search engine and is extremely important to optimize your website for. As a matter of fact, if you optimize your website just for Google you’d find your rankings in Yahoo! and MSN will jump up higher than your ranking in Google. I’ve optimized many websites that show up in at least the top 20 listings in Google and found that in each case they ranked higher in Yahoo! and MSN usually in the top 3 positions with most in the number one spots.

Most everyone agrees that with Google content is king. So writing good copy with just the right amount of keyword phrases, for keyword density is important. And natural anchor text links is second to the throne, which takes lots of work and proper timing to do properly.

Third in line are keyword phrases (notice I said phrase because single keywords are almost impossible to optimize for), which need to be researched to find the right phrase for you and not used to often in the content/text to get the right density. Used to often and you’ll hurt your ranking.

Fourth in line are the Meta Description Tag which when used properly can actually bring visitors to your website who wouldn’t normally come there. Of course there are several other factors involved with getting that elusive number one spot.

But what most everyone often overlooks is what I call the fifth element which Google uses to determine their ranking of a website and that's the domain name.

People, even SEO companies, don’t either know the importance of the domain name to Google or take the time to chose the proper name for the website. Most just use their company name or what they conceder a "Cool" name for their websites. Now, unless your company is well known or at least well known in its field, using a basically unknown company name is pointless. Even more pointless is the "Cool" name.

The entire reason you optimize your website is to get visitors from search engines, so why not use all the tools available to get the best ranking possible for your website.

Use your domain name as one of those tools. Instead of your company name or the "Cool" one, use a keyword phrase, one that describes your product or service. Take your time in choosing the proper name. Make sure that it will work best for your website. If you not sure ask your friends and relatives what keywords they would use to find your product or services on the Internet. You might be surprised at what they would use.

You have the keyword phrase that you know will work. But before you jump online and get that domain name there are a couple of things you may still need to do.

Let's say you're the owner of Mike's Bikes and you specialize in Colorado Mountain Bikes so you figure to kill two birds with one stone and use the domain name mikescoloradomountainbikes.com to keep your name in it along with using the keyword phrase. Now this might make sense to you but you’re not Google. You're not going to like it but you need to drop the mikes out of the name because it's dead weight.

So now you've got coloradomountainbikes.com but wait before you burn up the keyboard use Colorado-mountain-bikes.com instead. Why? Because Google sees this as three different words and would see coloradomountainbikes.com as a single word. When people are doing a search they will not be using coloradomountainbikes, they are going to use Colorado mountain bikes. The bonus is that your domain name now becomes a keyword phrase used by Google when it performs a search.

SEO Tip: How Do Search Engines Choose Page-One Sites?

You may be wondering how search engines arrange the top pages from millions of others. There are calculations involved and you have to work with these to put your site in page one.

How Do Search Engines Work?

There are three important elements that make up the database and finding of relevant material by search engines. From the inputting of words, the search until the hierarchy of results, there is a process that is mathematically formulated and produces the links and sites that suit best.

1. The web crawler. This is also known as a “spider” or “robot” which roams the web. It is a program that translates web pages and any existing links relevant to the page. The web crawler begins by looking through the web addresses that are available in its database or index. Any other page on the internet is added to the database should the web crawler consider it relevant to its existing index. Thus, the database continually grows and the web crawler also goes back to the index to check for updates and again search for new available links.

2. The index. The index holds all information of websites and pages that the web crawler has discovered during its frequent web roaming. Whenever any website or page is updated by the owner, the index also updates its stored information thus it continually grows over time.

3. The search engine. A search engine is a software that goes through all the information stored in the index whenever a search is done by a web browser. An algorithm supports the final results according to how relevant the websites found are to the search. The hierarchy of page results is determined by shutting on or off categories that the search engine feels is relevant to the search.

The Goal of Search Engines

The ultimate goal of a search engine is to provide the most relevant and informative web pages to the web browser. The effectiveness of search engines may be tested through search engine optimization. Page results for different search engines may vary depending on the algorithm that they are using. Thus, website owners aim to improve their rank based on the algorithm.

How Can I Get on Page-On of Search Engines?

1. Links. Links are small routes leading to your website thus a lot of these will increase your visibility in search engines. When typing in a search, it is possible for your URL to be exposed even if the engine may be revealing another website housing your link.

2. Page Summary. Make your page summary more effective by using meta tag names and using keywords in a balanced manner. Be more flexible in your website’s description so that it can stand out even if the search is bound for a different category. This prevents your website from being completely shut out by the search engine.

3. Title. Although the true nature of the fixed algorithm used by search engines is not fully known, it might help to start with titles that begin with the letters A to E. Engines arrange equal scoring websites in alphabetical order.

4. Keywords. Wisely input keywords in your web pages. More is not better when it comes to key words since engines will decrease your value with too much repetition. Four to five keywords per page is the most you may be using to help boost your visibility.

5. URL. Share your URL as much as you can in multi and single-database services to increase your value. You may also put it in blogs, your friends’ linking addresss and emails.

A Simple And Free Way To Skyrocket Your Search Engine Ranking

What can you do right now, to increase your search engine ranking?

Well for starters, incoming links play a huge role when it comes to placing high in the search engines. The more links that point to your site from other websites the better. To the search engines, each incoming link counts as a vote for your ranking. The higher a site ranks, the more the its vote is worth.

It's also important that these sites that have a similar theme as yours. For example, if your site is built around photography software, you would want to get your link on sites that deal with camera equipment or photography tips.

There is a simple and free technique that you can start using this minute to get tons of incoming links to your site. After reading this article of course :)

Try this, open your favorite search engine and type in the following phrase with quotations marks: "fishing" "add url" . Hit the search button and the results will turn up numerous sites that allow you to add your website link to their directory.

Some of these sites will add your link right away and some might require a reciprocal link which means you add their link to your site. Reciprocal links can also help your ranking by positioning you as an authority if you link to other quality, similar themed sites.

Apply this technique to you own site by substituting the keyword "fishing" with whatever keyword applies to you niche. To find even more sites that allow link submission, play around with different combinations of keywords in between the first set of quotation marks.

Examples:

"football" "add url"
"football gear" "add url"
"fishing gear" "add url"
"hockey equipment" "add url"
"weddings" "add url"
"wedding merchandise" "add url"
"golfing equipment" "add url"
"golfing secrets" "add url"
"fitness products" "add url"
"adventure tours" "add url"

Next you can expand you search even more by replacing "add url" in between the second set of quotation marks with other phrases like "add link" or "submit a url". Get creative and try every possible combination you can think of.

Examples:

"add website"
"add your link"
"add a link"
"add a site"
"submit url"
"submit a site"
"submit site"
"submit link"
"link submission"
"suggest a link"
"suggest a url"
"recommended a site"
"suggest your site"
"link directory"
"add-a-link"
"cool sites"

As a side note, sometimes these link directory sites will have another text link that you must click to find the submission form. In cases like this, look for things like "click here to add your site" or "add your url" etc.

If you want to streamline the process of submitting your website link to hundreds of directories, significantly increase your link popularity and search engine ranking, then I highly recommend a hot new product called Link Directory Submitter http://www.GetDirectorySubmitter.com

This program has a very large, every increasing number of sites already built into it that you can submit your link to. Using this program is a great way to leverage your time by letting the program handle all the dirty work of finding these sites and manually submitting to them on your own.

Non Reciprocal Link Building

What is Non Reciprocal Link Building?

Link popularity is the most important internet marketing tool for you. Building outbound links, inbound links or non reciprocal link building is the prime aspect for you to popularize your links. The non reciprocal link building directly boosts up targeted traffic on your website(s) and, thus, simply generates more business for you. In fact, one way non reciprocal links are responsible for effective SEO operations.

So, it becomes all the more important for you to know about non reciprocal links in detail. Read on to know it.

First things first, what is link popularity?
In the simple terms, link popularity can be defined as the number of websites linking to one website. You can check the link popularity of your website(s) with the help of search engines or some link popularity software. There are actually three types of links: inbound links, outgoing links and reciprocal links. The reciprocal links are the links exchanged between the two sites. Outgoing links are the links of other web masters on your websites. The inbound links are called non reciprocal links. They are also known as the one way links.

Non reciprocal link building: Why it is the most important?
The non reciprocal link building is the process of getting the other websites to mention your links. And you do not even have to link back to these websites. And now the natural question that might be cropping in your mind would be why do you need to build non reciprocal links?

The answer to this question is straight and direct. As these links are one way, they are based on the fact that these links are “useful” to the visitors. The links provide information, article and knowledge to the users. Thus, these links add credibility to your website. Even the search engines base their ranking more on the basis of one way non reciprocal links. Thus, the number of non reciprocal links for your website plays a great role in determining the exact position of your website.

Now to build these one way links, you need to make your site well enticing to the other sites. They must feel that the links to the content on your site will attract the traffic. So your website should provide necessary content or information. Even if you need to spend some money or time in getting quality content made, the deal is worth making.

You can also get free articles from a number of sites to publish on your website(s). Similarly, you can get your articles published on the others’ web sites as well. Web directories and ezines are also a place to get your website noticed. Always mention your link at the end of the articles. Always make sure that the directory you are submitting links to, is related to your business circuit.

Joining discussion forums is also an effective way of non reciprocal link building. The forums publish your articles and help you get the feed back from the readers. A numbers of sites search for the forums to find out the websites publishing good articles. Some forums allow you to mention your signature as well.

Now it would be clear to you that non reciprocal link building raise your link popularity to newer heights. So go ahead and start working in this direction today.

Holistic Search Engine Optimization

We all have heard that search engines are the number one resource for consumers to research and buy products or services online. In fact, marketing studies have shown that over 70% of web surfers use search engines to locate online merchants. The ramification of this statistic is simple: if you want to reach the members of your target market you need to make sure that your business web site appears in popular search engines.

Search engine optimization (SEO) can help you achieve this. SEO is a crucial online marketing technique. It helps you to get your web site to appear in search engine result pages (SERPs) for keywords that that are relevant to your business. For example, if you are a business coach, and someone is searching for "business coach", it would be great for your business if your web site appears in the first 10 results.

So what exactly is search engine optimization? SEO includes selecting the best keywords for the body of the page as well as other page elements (the title tag, keyword and description meta tags, etc.) Carefully chosen keywords provide "hints" that search engines use to classify your site and to determine whether your site should appear for certain search keywords. On-page keyword optimization by itself will help your rankings. However, holistic search engine optimization is required to achieve optimal results. For the best placement, focus on SEO as a whole, rather than concentrate on a particular technique.

Here are a few important elements of holistic search engine optimization:

- Have good content. After all, content is king (or queen, whichever the case may be). Without content there isn't much of a site. The content must walk a fine line between providing useful content and including sufficient and relevant keywords for search engines.

Often it is difficult to optimize your product or service pages for search engines, since the main goal of these items is to showcase the benefits of your offer. On the other hand, it is easier to optimize blog posts and articles. In fact, you can create entire articles and blog posts around keywords that are popular with your target market.

- Have consistent navigation. Both your web site visitors and search engine spiders navigate your web site through links that connect different pages. Consistent navigation ensures that your visitors can reach every page on your web site from every other page. On top of that, you will you get the most out of your search engine optimization efforts.

- Get links to your site. Links to your web site play a very important role in holistic search engine optimization. Many popular search engines evaluate your web site's popularity based on counting the number of links that point to your site. The more popular your web site is, the better rankings it gets on search engines. The best links are links from reputable, quality web site that have complimentary or related content.

You can get links to your web site by using a variety of techniques, such as writing articles, participating in link exchanges, and participating in online networking.

Take a holistic approach to web site optimization. Apply SEO to your web site as a whole, and always evaluate the overall impact of your marketing efforts.

5 Simple Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Techniques

The lifeblood of any website/ecommerce business is traffic, and every webmaster knows the best type of traffic is natural, organic search engine traffic. There are two very important reasons for this: (1) it is extremely targeted, and (2) It is FREE! The hard part is getting top ranking for your sites keywords... or is it? The purpose of this article is to provide a few simple, effective, and most important, search engine friendly strategies to help boost your websites' ranking and ultimately your traffic.

1. We will start with the Meta Tags. I know you have already heard of, and are probably currently using meta tags on your site. This is great. I just want to make sure you are using them effectively. We will only go over 2 tags: the "title" tag, and the "description" tag. We will not go over the "keywords" tag, as the major search engines have placed less and less weight on this one, and some would argue this tag has no weight at all. I still use this tag however, as I feel there is some merit and no drawbacks to using this tag.

I have found it effective to use similar text in the "title" and "description" tags, and to place your keywords prominently in these tags (near the beginning and more than once). I have seen sites with "sitename.com", "New Page 1", or "Welcome to my site" in the "title" tag, which really does not help in their quest for higher rankings for their particular keyword. Also, try not to use words such as "and", "or", or "the" in these tags.

**Important note about your keywords. Search engines evaluate keyword prominence, keyword weight, and keyword density when determining a site's ranking. All three are calculated individually for the page, the title tag, the description tag, as well as other areas on a page. Keyword prominence means how close the keyword is to the beginning of your page. Keyword weight refers to how many times a particular keyword or phrase can be found on the page. Keyword density is the ratio of the keyword to the other words on the page. You do not want the keyword weight or density to be too high, as this can appear to the search engine as "keyword stuffing" and most search engines penalize sites that stuff their keywords.

2. Place your navigational links (and JavaScript) at the right or at the bottom, but not on the left, of the page. When the search engines "read" your site, they read from the top left to the bottom right. Search engines place an emphasis on the first 100 words or text on the site. You do not want these words to be navigational links or Javascript. Ideally, you want to have your heading tags with your keywords in the beginning of your page. This being said, placing your links/JavaScript on the right or bottom of your page ensures the search engine spiders get to the text first, giving more weight to what's important on your page.

3. Place alt tags on all of your images. Search engine spiders cannot "read" pictures or images. The only way a spider knows what an image is about is by reading the alt tag. This is also another chance to place more of your keywords in your HTML, improving your page's keyword weight/density. Alt tags are easy to make and they can make a big difference in your sites keyword ranking. A simple alt tag looks like this: alt="put your keyword phrase here." Search engines separately calculate keyword prominence, density, and weight in alt tags as well, so optimize your tags.

4. Place your keywords at the bottom of your page. Just as search engines place more weight on the first words of your page, they also do the same to the last words. The general thinking is this, if your site is about a certain subject, then the main points, or keywords, should, appear at the beginning, be spread throughout the page, and be prominent at the conclusion. But if you have all of your navigational links and JavaScript at the bottom, your relevant page text could end well before the HTML does. An easy way to have your keywords at the bottom of your page is to include them in the copyright information. For example, if you have a dog food website, you could have something like this at the very bottom of the page:

copyright 2005 yoursite.com
World's best dog food

Search engines are not (as of this writing), penalizing sites using this technique, and it wouldn't really make much sense for them to do so.

5. The Anchor Text of your links. Anchor text is the actual linking text on a site. It is what the user clicks on to navigate to that particular site or page. If a search engine finds many links to your site using the term "dog food", then the search engine concludes your site is about "dog food". This is overlooked quite often, but it seems to have a very large impact on your search engine rankings for a particular keyword. Your anchor text needs to be the keyword or phrase you are trying to target. Try to avoid anchor text such as "Click Here" or "yoursite.com"

Also, if you're running a reciprocal link campaign, be sure to use variations of your text. If an engine notices every link to your site is identical, it could place less weight on these links or potentially penalize your site. This is because search engines generally give more weight to "naturally occurring" links, and less to "reciprocal link exchange campaigns". Using different, but relevant anchor text can dramatically affect your targeted keyword rankings, by making your links appear more natural.

Effective SEO may seem difficult at first, but as you have read above, little tricks that require little or no programming knowledge, can make a huge impact on your website's keyword ranking.

“Do-It-Yourself” Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – Three Easy Steps

Ranking high in Google’s search results can have a phenomenal impact on the success of your business.
You can either engage the expertise of a Search Engine Optimisation company, or if you have the time, there are some changes you can make to your website yourself.

Step 1: Keyword Research
What keywords do you think your customers would type in to search for your products or services? A keyword can be one word (e.g. “optimisation”), but multiple keywords or keyword phrases are usually preferred, because they are more specific and more likely to be what your customers are looking for (eg. “ Search Engine Optimisation Australia”).

Write down as many as you can think of. Brainstorm with your team. Think of alternative words. Consider geographical phrases if they are important to your customer (e.g. “house cleaning Hornsby”). Also, get some ideas from your competitors’ websites. Try to make a list of 20-30 keyword phrases.

Choose the two keyword phrases you think would be searched for the most. But also remember, the more competition there is for a keyword, the harder it is to achieve top rankings. If you want to rank high in Google for the keyword “insurance”, you have a very long journey ahead. So try your best to select two keyword phrases that are the most relevant to you business but that are not vague nor competitive. It’s a good idea to have 2 or 3 words in each phrase (e.g. “wedding catering services”)

Once you’ve selected your two best keyword phrases the next step shows you how to make some improvements to your home page.

Step 2: Web Copy
Web copy refers to all the words or text on your website. Because content is king in the world of search engines, your keyword phrases need to be placed strategically on your webpage to convince Google that your content is highly relevant to those keywords. The more prominent they are, the better. (Keep in mind that as important as search engines are, customers come first, so make sure your copy also reads well.)

Here’s how you can increase each keyword’s prominence:

• Place your keywords in headings, preferably at the beginning of the heading;

• Include keywords towards the top of the page;

• Bold or italicise keywords where appropriate;

• Instead of having a link to another page that says "Click here to read more ", reword it to include your keywords, e.g. "Read more about our seo copywriting Services".

An important tip is to also include these keywords in your HTML “title tag”. Use your content management system to make these changes yourself, or perhaps ask your web developer to do it if you’re unsure how.

Once you have fine-tuned your home page, consider adding new content, such as detailed descriptions of what you offer, FAQs and informative articles about your products and services. (If you don’t want to write these yourself, they can be located for free on the internet - do a search for “articles directory”).

It’s also good to bear in mind that search engines can only read text, not pictures. Often web developers embed words in images to look better for website visitors or use Flash for animation, but this is a major impediment to search engines.

Step 3: Linking
Each link from another website to your website (not from your website) is considered by search engines as a vote of popularity for your business and will improve your rankings.

But it is the quality, not quantity, of the links that is crucial. The other websites should be relevant to your industry, and preferably highly regarded themselves. Ten quality links count far more than 500 links from arbitrary websites. In the same way your personal business network can have a significant impact on the success of your business, so too the online network you build on the internet.

Brainstorm all the relevant websites that could link to you, such as non-competing companies, and industry bodies and organisations. Write a friendly email to each describing the benefit their visitors would get in knowing about your business, and request them to create a link to your website. Most people will not respond first time round, so a follow-up phone call is usually required.

How do I monitor my results?
Monitor your rankings in Google over the next few months by typing your chosen keywords into the search box, and recording your ranking. Also look at your hosting reports to understand what search terms your visitors are using to find your website.

The above process can be also be repeated for each page of your website. Remember to keep updating your content, and continually increase the number of links to your website.

As you see your rankings climb you should see a corresponding increase in web traffic and a substantial increase in sales enquiries. Be sure to record the source of your customer enquiries, so you can measure the success of your marketing efforts.

Remember, if you measure it, you can improve it.

10-step Guide to Get Links to Your New Website

If you are the webmaster of a newly launched website, or if your website lacks the popularity it deserves, you should have a look at the following 10-step guide, which will show you how to get valuable links and improve your traffic levels and overall site popularity: 1. Use the full power of automated link management websites and directories. This is the easiest and most effective way of getting links to your website. Some great resources to start linking to other websites, go to: o http://www.MyLinkMachine.com o http://www.LinkManager.com 2. Place a link or invitation for potential link partners. There are many webmasters who visit related websites and some of them might want to link to you. Make sure to offer them an easy and quick solution to initiate the link exchange. 3. Use high authority websites like Wikipedia to generate traffic and increase your website popularity. Remember that quality is king on such websites, so don’t try to spam them or find quick solutions. Become part of the community and your links will be more than welcome. 4. Become a part of the blogging craze. Create your own blog (you can do that for free with services like Blogger or Word Press) and start posting on other blogs. Try to include a link to your website where the context allows it. Blog posting is effective and has the potential to send hundreds of visitors each week with only a few well written comments and some subtle links. 5. Join a few forums related to the topic of your website and become an active member. Try to create the exact same user name and password for more forums, so that you can manage your posts and memberships better. Some forums don’t allow you to place links in your messages – unless they are really valuable forums try to avoid them as they will bring little benefit. 6. Post on groups and other online communities. 7. Use social bookmarking websites such as digg.com or furl.com to generate interest in your website. The more interesting the content of your pages is, the more credit you will get from the people who determine the placement of your links. 8. Yahoo Answers is another interesting source of traffic and links. Make sure to become a real contributor to the program, not just someone who places a link without any real content. 9. Offer something of value for free to your visitors or newsletter subscribers. This will generate a viral effect in which visitors tell their friends about your website. This will lead to increased traffic, plus it will let more webmasters know that you exist, increasing the chances of a link exchange. 10. Use the full power of article submissions. This is another viral marketing tool that has the potential of generating more and more incoming links towards your website as the articles you submitted get republished on blogs and websites. You may want to register with some ezines and directories to submit your article for inclusion, such as: o http://www.MyContentBuilder.com Article submission can be tedious, which is why you may want to consider an automatic article submitter. It will submit one article to over 30 directories in half an hour. To watch a video on how to accomplish this, go to: o http://1trac.com/dt/t/Article_Submitter_Video.php

Importance of Maintaing Your SEO Campaigns

There are people who think that they can throw up a web page and that people will find them, and good luck too them – but it won’t happen. Any website that wants to make money needs to get optimized, and stay that way. Running and SEO campaign once or twice isn’t enough in this market: you need to consider long-term maintenance of your SEO. For long term SEO maintenance to be effective, you need to constantly monitor the search engines algorithms, which can change very frequently. You also need to keep track of your competitors’ optimizations and adapt your strategy accordingly. Always consider your website as an investment – you’ve put time, money and effort into it. Your investment needs to be protected, and the way to do that is SEO maintenance. This makes sure that your website is ranked high enough to bring you the traffic you need, and keeps the sales coming. We’ve compiled a list of tips to help you with your SEO maintenance. To keep good rankings, you need to pay attention to how your site is doing. A few things to remember are: 1. Check on your pages regularly and make sure they’re still listed. Your listings are the most important part of your SEO work. Whether the page is listed or not is vastly more important than what key words you have etc. After all, if you aren’t listed at all what good is it to optimize? 2. Monitor the listings every week or two to make sure your pages are displaying correctly and that there are no problems with your site. While your at it see whether you’ve risen, dropped, or remained constant as far as listings go. Odds are that you will not remain constant, if you do remain constant you should consider this a small success as you have probably risen above other pages that were formerly above you while others from below you have surpassed you. 3. Watch for trouble, and fix it quickly. Don’t think it will correct itself – it won't. Any missing pages should be checked out thoroughly. Chances are that the system has run into a problem, but if you don’t check it out you may very easily be wrong. Always correct any of your mistakes as your mistakes can be very costly if they are not dealt with in a timely fashion. 4. Resubmit your site if you make major changes, but not for anything smaller. The most important time to resubmit your site is if you have recently changed your titles. Titles are very important in SEO and can deliver you with a completely new set of quality key words. 5. Create monthly ranking reports on your site, to see if any changes need to be made. 6. Keep building your link popularity. 7. Keep submitting your site to the big directories, as spiders use these as a starting point. 8. Watch your competitors and the methods they use. If they start trying to cheat, report them straightaway – it gets them out of your way. 9. Set goals for yourself. Write out an SEO maintenance plan, and if things change then make sure to set new goals and stick with them. 10. Stay up to date on the latest SEO information. 11. Check your site’s performance – if you’re not monitoring your traffic, find a tool to do it now. 12. Maintain a solid plan for dealing with your site’s growth. Don’t panic if you see a blip. As with any buisness or marketing campaign it requires work, SEO is no different. So sit down and make a plan…. and start to make your SEO campaigns work and work consistantly.
